The Human Resources Specialist role is an individual who is adept at knitting together the activities of a busy HR organization. Working in Defense Systems HR is a rewarding experience. Our complex work requires collaboration, teamwork, and collective brainpower focused on mission success.


Responsibilities

Across CAES-Defense Systems, you are responsible for:

PROCESS MANAGEMENT

  • Execution of transactional core HR processes (e.g. benefit administration transactions, recruitment, transitional return to work, leave administration, etc.)
  • Responsible for New Hire Orientation (advance planning/prep; conducting the program; post induction process management)
  • Responsible for recruitment activities (requisition report generation; assist with interview scheduling, if needed; point-person for receiving and reviewing pre-employment screening results)
  • Completion of documentation for external programs / services (unemployment claims processes; eVerify entry and processing; prescreening process results)
  • Maintain and update electronic employee records and databases
  • Organize and coordinate employee training programs including managing the California Employee Training Panel rosters.
  • Generate reports from existing databases using HRIS, Excel, PowerPoint, and other technology applications
  • Focus on better ways of operating through continuous improvement mindset

EVENT MANAGEMENT

  • Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation including coordinating speakers, leadership luncheon, onboarding materials preparation and post-induction process management.
  • Prepare and process offboarding materials to efficiently conduct exit interviews
  • Schedule meetings and interviews as requested (including interview travel)
  • Event Planning Champion and Employee Activities Committee Leader (service awards; skip level meetings; annual benefits presentations; All Hands meetings; etc.)
  • Coordinate and order HR supplies.

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

  • Answer employee questions, assist in preparation of annual reviews, and all administrative support for department
  • Provide support to employee inquiries on HR policies and procedures
  • Act as a secondary Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the systems; policies; processes of HR
  • Maintain compliance postings for all Defense Systems locations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HS Diploma or GED and minimum two (2) years’ experience in a HR department
  • HR experience must entail broad / general background in the various disciplines traditional to the HR professions (training; employee engagement; pay & benefits; talent acquisition; talent management; HR systems)

PREFERRED:

  • Associate's Degree strongly preferred
  • Four (4) years’ experience in a HR department
  • An ambassador for the company to all levels of employees, with the ability to impart positivity and engagement in the company’s activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Proficient with, or ability to quickly learn, human resource information system (HRIS) and similar databases
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Flexibility and adaptability to your own changing priorities and assignments
  • Oracle HCM system knowledge

Salary Range: $20.96 – $33.24 hourly. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
