These duties include providing overall administrative management to professional and administrative staff, ensuring full support for administrative and litigation programs, managing databases, and supporting automation initiatives. The Office Manager is also responsible for managing and overseeing subordinate staffs which maybe located in multiple PODs.

As an Office Manager, you will:
  • Oversees and reviews the work of a subordinate staff with responsibility for planning, and scheduling work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities and establishing working procedures.
  • Provides technical advice and interpretations of guidelines to employees.
  • Exercises authority to represent and make commitments involving program operations and the administrative management of the organization on behalf of upper Management.
  • Consults with senior management officials within the organization on critical organizational or management issues affecting operating programs.
  • Prepares correspondence and technical documents, as required on program matters.
  • Oversees and carries out employee relations program responsibility within the various office(s) under the incumbent's scope of authority in coordination with GLS.
  • Identifies and analyzes critical problems and issues, the timing and sequence of key program events and milestones, resource utilization, and constraints, and coordination of management controls.
  • Manages Westbury, NY location.

Basic Requirement for Office Manager:

For GS-11:

Specialized Experience: Your resume must detail at least one year of specialized experience which includes: Supervised a workforce including writing formal performance appraisals; performed administrative and office management activities for an organization; developed training and action plans; estimated resource requirements; procured and managed office resources such as contractor support services or office supplies; evaluated and improved office operations; and utilized office software such as Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education Substitution: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.

Your resume must detail at least one year of specialized experience which includes: Led a workforce including providing input for formal performance appraisals; coordinated administrative and office management activities for an organization that served multiple customer groups; monitored activities and accomplishments of program goals; developed action plans; estimated resource requirements; procured and managed office resources such as contractor support services or office supplies; evaluated and made suggestions for improving office operations.Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
