This position will serve as the new vectorborne disease public health program assistant administrator who will assisting in the management of the vectorborne disease program in the central office of the Department of Health. Work involves participating in and planning specialized public health education in vectorborne diseases, especially those of public health interest in Pennsylvania including Lyme disease and West Nile virus.

Work Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM; Monday - Friday; 30 minute lunch
Work involves specialized public health education in vectorborne diseases, especially those of public health interest in Pennsylvania including Lyme disease and West Nile virus. An employee would assist with cataloging and maintaining up to date information and resources for public health education in this program area.
Assists in developing vectorborne disease educational and training materials; may present educational materials to groups on various aspects of the program; develops data collection methods and analyzes data to report program activities and adherence to grant metrics and deadlines.
An employee interacts with other Department of Health employees, constituent groups, service providers, community organizations and groups, task forces, committees, initiate problem-solving strategies, resolve program problems, provide technical assistance and participate in public health promotion activities for programs.
Assists epidemiologists in the management of a public health program by performing staff work for a variety of functions involving different components or an entire specific component of a public health program involving the education of prevention and disease management strategies of various vectorborne diseases to targeted population groups.
Develops public health program proposal specifications and evaluation criteria.
May participate in writing guidelines, rules, regulations, procedures, and protocols governing the operation of the educational component of the vectorborne disease public health program.
Assists a PHPA in the facilitation of contracts, MOUs, or budgets relating to vectorborne disease program area activities.
Assists in developing and maintaining presentations to various lay and professional groups to promote a public health program or to provide public health education to targeted population groups on vectorborne disease detection or prevention.
Develops and maintains a catalog and common source of relevant vectorborne public health education curriculums, resources and materials, including tick bite labs and a resource library.
Participates in developing needs assessments to determine the health status of a population; collects, analyzes, and interprets data for use in federal and state reporting and to assist in vectorborne disease program planning and monitoring.
Develops data collection methods to report and monitor vectorborne disease program activities; analyzes data to determine if the activities provided by the contracted provider meet the requirements of the contract.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements -
A bachelor's degree and one year of professional public health, health, allied health sciences, drug and alcohol or related experience;
A bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience in the development or evaluation of grants, contracts or programs for the provision of social, employment, environmental health, or health related services;
An associate's degree in allied health sciences or nursing and three years of professional experience in the development or evaluation of grants, contracts or programs for the provision of social, employment, environmental health, or health related services;
Five years of professional experience in the development or evaluation of grants, contracts or programs for the provision of social, employment, environmental health, or health related services;
A master's degree in public health, health services administration, health care administration, health education, public health administration, public administration, nursing, epidemiology, social work, nutrition, hospital administration, physical therapy, occupational therapy, business administration, or education.
