Description Do you want to perform volunteer business/operations work in a challenging yet professional environment? Begin by investing in your career and future at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)!Business students will be assigned to work with SEC staff members on projects and assignments that cover a broad range of the Commissions' work. That work depends upon the division or office where the student works. Business intern assignments range from supporting securities regulations to assisting in professional administrative duties such as human resources, contracting, auditing, etc.

Volunteer internship opportunities in the Summer are full-time only (40 hours per week) to ensure we are providing an enriching and rewarding experience while meeting the needs of the Commission. Academic and/or work-study credit is available to all summer volunteers. We will work with your academic institution to ensure all applicable forms are completed, when and where applicable.For information about the opportunities and the work that interns do in specific divisions and offices, please read the SEC's website.

The SEC is looking for the following majors at the undergraduate and graduate levels:

  • Graphic Design/Web Development
  • Data Sciences

  • Public Administration/Government
  • Criminal Justice
  • Library Sciences (Washington, DC ONLY)
  • Communications/Marketing
  • Journalism/English/Literature
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Behavioral Economics
  • Industrial/Organizational Psychology
  • Organizational Behavior

The Summer 2020 Student Honors Business Program starts Monday May 18, 2020 and ends Friday July 31, 2020.

Undergraduate and graduate students must be enrolled and/or accepted at an accredited university or college AND enrolled at least half-time (6 credits per semester or the equivalent) in an accredited college or university to participate in the Student Honors Business Program.

- Must be an undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior student as of June 30, 2020.
-Must be accepted and/or enrolled into a graduate program as of June 30, 2020.
- Must be taking at least half-time academic course load
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred
- Relatives of current SEC employees are ineligible
