Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 9-0 has an opening for a Transportation Construction Inspector in the Construction Unit. This individual performs technical work in construction inspection of road and bridge construction projects to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
This position is home headquartered in Blair County, but employee may work in Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon or Somerset County.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Schedule is subject to change to do contractor/vendor work schedule requirements. Travel and overtime will be required.

Meet Pennsylvania residency requirements.
Be able to perform essential job functions.
Inspects any and all phases of transportation construction work. Assists with checking grades, elevations, structure stake-out and roadway stake-out with contractor/surveyor.
Inspects the placement of materials such as cement concrete, bituminous concrete, drainage materials and all applicable materials.
Provides construction project information to contractors, material suppliers, co-workers, and the public.
Closely observes construction operations/plant operations/material testing and enforces contract requirements. Inspects all items listed in Publication 408. Notifies the Contractor of non-compliance issues and ensures corrective action is taken and informs their supervisor. Inspects the placement of materials, checks and approves elevations, grades for structures, drainage and roadway work.
Checks traffic control measures to assure safety of workers and traveling public.
