1st Area of Consideration:
Current permanent employees of VAMC Lebanon, NECPAC, and employees of VISN 4 contracting, OI&T, CBOPC and Veterans Canteen Service located in Lebanon, PA.The Lebanon VA Medical Center is currently seeking a board certified, qualified physician with extensive Geriatrics experience. The selected candidate may be a Family Practice or Internal Medicine MD/DO who has had suitable extensive, gerontological, supervised clinical experience. The clinical experience must be in the management and co-management of patients of advanced age with chronic disease compounded by psychosocial and functional issues, in collaborative partnership with an interdisciplinary team of suitably prepared health care professionals. The candidate will primarily provide ambulatory Geriatric care services and focus on our geriatric patients.
Service duties will include, but are not limited to:
Provide quality patient care in our Geriatric clinics
Serve as a key clinical resource for matters involving Geriatric services
Provides comprehensive care for our Veteran population includes diagnosis and treatment of assigned patients
Provides effective medical treatment, consultation, and diagnosis upon request from other Services/Departments
Orders lab tests, x-rays, EKG's and other diagnostic procedures
Initiates or expedites requests for consults, special tests, or studies
Assess Veterans by utilizing advanced clinical judgment and physical assessment skills
Identifying acute and/or chronic health problems
Assess and manage geriatric syndromes such as falls, gait and balance disorders, failure to thrive, incontinence, memory loss, including dementia, polypharmacy, depression, osteoporosis and sleep disturbance
Coordinates with pharmacy for medication reconciliation, and polypharmacy redirection
Provide occasional backup to other Extended Care (EC) providers as needed
Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, unless otherwise approved

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Must be able to physically and mentally perform the duties of Physician, under normal and emergent conditions. Moderate lifting 15-44 lbs and over with assistive devices, heavy carrying of 15-44 lbs and over with assistive devices; reaching above shoulder; use of fingers, both hands required, walking or standing up to 4 hours per day; repeated bending up to 1-2 hours per day; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination; near vision correctable; hearing aid permitted.
