Description PEMA is seeking a a team player with emergency management training and instruction experience at the state level who will passionately serve as an advocate for the Commonwealth Emergency Management Training and Exercise Program.

  • Full-time employment
  • Work Hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00AM - 4:00PM with a 30 minute lunch
  • Essential Employee - may work 12 hour shift during emergency activation
  • Overtime and travel may be required.  Travel expenses will be paid
  • Free on-site parking is available
This Emergency Management Specialist will assist the Emergency Management Supervisor of the PEMA Training and Exercise Division in determining actions that ensure the Commonwealth Emergency Management Training Program creates a high level of proficiency in the emergency management community. This position must be able to readily function in a team environment to help establish an effective Commonwealth Training and Exercise Plan.  Creating positive working relationships with all stakeholders that will engage in the Training and Exercise Plan Workshop process is an integral part of this position. This Emergency Management Specialist will coordinate training that occurs at the PEMA Headquarters as well as instruct courses for which this person is qualified or can easily become qualified.Qualifications:

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:  Two years of experience in the development, coordination, or promotion of emergency-related programs such as disaster relief, public safety, and emergency management in government, industry, education, or the military; and a bachelor's degree;  OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
