Description This position is located at Valley Forge National Historical Park, in the Maintenance Division.

A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectee are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season for Valley Forge National Historical Park is February to December, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions.

The purpose of this position is to perform recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties and assist journeymen and other higher graded maintenance workers.
Utilizes knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts to include painting, roofing, masonry, and custodial/laborer duties.
Duties include painting, repairs to roofs, working with preservationist on projects to historic structures, masonry repairs to both historic and non-historic structures. Other duties may include trash collection, custodial work and event supportTo qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

  2. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
  3. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  4. Use of Measuring Instruments
  5. Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
  6. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  7. Knowledge of Materials
