Centre County Maintenance Organization is seeking to fill full time Automotive Mechanics. This is a trained automotive and heavy equipment mechanic that performs a variety of analytical, preventative maintenance, and repair duties for a fleet of construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and hand tools. The equipment is powered by gasoline or diesel engines. Repair and maintenance work is performed on hydraulic, electrical, heating, cooling, and exhaust systems, and manual and automatic transmissions. An Automotive Mechanic completes required work orders, charges time accurately, and reports all equipment accidents or damage immediately. Apply today!As an Automotive Mechanic, you'll have the opportunity to:
Assists in repairs and overhauls vehicles such as cars, trucks, and tractors. Carries out maintenance and repairs on equipment such as sweepers, mixers, and front end loaders.
Assists in repairs and replaces shock absorbers, transmissions, hour meters, clutches, brakes, and other parts. Balances wheels and checks for proper alignment, makes minor body repairs, and assists in overhauls and tests alternators and electrical components on vehicles and equipment.
Carries out a preventive maintenance program on vehicles, equipment and parts.
Assists in performing automotive mechanical diagnostics, tune-ups, and tire changes, repairs and replaces engine sub-assemblies, repairs and adjusts the cooling, suspension, electrical, heating and air-conditioning components, and maintains fuel, brake, steering and transmission systems. Assists in repairs or rebuilds construction or shop equipment.
Performs repairs to ensure compliance with specifications, road tests vehicles, identifies equipment problems using diagnostic equipment and procedures, with assistance, to determine problems, repair methods, procedures, tools, and parts to be used.
Repairs and maintains motorized hand equipment such as chain saws, compressors, jack hammers, tampers, hand mowers and trimmers, routers, patching machines, and heating kettles.
Reports missing parts or broken equipment as it is noted. Performs all necessary routine field adjustments to permit safe operation and minimize wear. Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance work on equipment which includes cleaning and servicing equipment.
Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or
Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License (Class C minimum).
Possess a valid Pennsylvania Class 1 inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment.
Pennsylvania residency is required.
Monday through Friday
7:00 am to 3:00 pm
Lunch Break: 30 minutes
Work Hours subject to change. May require travel, overtime, and shift work as needed.
