The P J Dick-Trumbull-Lindy Group family of construction companies seeks to hire an Accounting Administrator to join its fast-paced and growing Accounting team at our North Shore corporate headquarters.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. Perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. May also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  1. Verify invoice details (vendor information, invoice #, amount, etc). Compute discounts and place invoices in line for payment.
  2. Make sales/use tax determinations.
  3. Determine and/or verify account classification to ensure financial statement accuracy.
  4. Review and analyze expense reports to determine proper tax treatment and verify that expense complies with corporate policy.
  5. Assist in collecting costs to various collection levels such as account, unit and work order.
  6. Review monthly statements from vendors for missing invoices and follow up as needed.
  7. May type correspondence, checks, reports as work load requires.
  8. Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Educational and experience requirements include: 1-2 years business school, accounting training or minimum one (1) year bookkeeping/accounting experience, or equivalent combinations of experience and training. Basic understanding of bookkeeping and/or accounting procedures and techniques beneficial.

COMMENTS:

Some aspects of the position may be clerical, however, this is not a secretarial or typist role, but rather requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment. Exempt under FLSA.
