Description Two positions will be filled from this announcement. One position is located on the Allegheny National Forest with a duty location of Marienville, PA. The other position is located on the Hiawatha National Forest with a duty location of Rapid River, MI.

The primary responsibility of both positions is to administer timber sales having complex requirements and conditions.

The following specialized experience is required for the grade specified. Your application or resume must clearly show that you possess the specialized experience requirements.

Specialized Experience Requirement:

For the GS-07 grade level: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: Inspect timber sale area location for compliance with contract clauses governing location and construction of roads, fire prevention, personal safety precautions, and cutting provisions; Interpret timber sale contract provisions to ensure technical methods are in compliance with a timber management program; Report timber contract non-compliance to supervisors and leadership.

For the GS-08 grade level: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: Provide information regarding contract provisions and policies to timber purchasers, field representatives, and logging contractors to administer timber sale contracts; Monitor and inspect timber sale operations to ensure contract requirements and conditions are met; Prepare written reports of timber sale inspections; Monitor corrections made to deficiencies found during timber sale inspections.

For the GS-09 grade level: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: Administer timber sales using technical and administrative solutions to address timber contract requirements and conditions; Perform final field inspection for timber sales to recommend acceptance for closure of the timber sale contract; Develop a plan and schedule for conducting field inspections for timber sales; Prepare documents, such as preliminary logging plans and environmental assessment reports in support of timber sales.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
