Description The Pennsylvania Department of Health is seeking an individual with a background in emergency medical services to join our Bureau of EMS as an EMS Program Specialist within the education section.

  • Work hours:  Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a one hour lunch period
This position will work in both the education and data/quality improvement sections of the bureau reporting to the manager of the education program section.  This is a great opportunity to help support and advance EMS in the Commonwealth from a standpoint of education and helping make data driven decisions.    

The position is responsible for researching, procuring, developing, and approving education/ training material for delivery through various delivery mediums including in-person delivery, through newsletters and brochures, and via delivery on the LMS system.  Also this position in consultation with the Program Manager approves applications for EMS training institutes and continuing education sponsors.  

This position will also be responsible for coordinating data collection methods, including patient care report records to report and monitor various program activities within the bureau including analyzing and interrupting that data for a variety of different functions. 

The position may require travel to external meetings at various locations through the Commonwealth and is deemed a public health emergency response position by the Department.

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements -  Two years of professional experience planning, developing, evaluating or operating an emergency medical services program or providing EMS certified training or administering a college EMS training program; and a bachelor's degree in health policy and administration, economics, statistics, public or business administration, emergency medicine, nursing or a related medical field; OR three years of professional experience planning, developing, evaluating or operating an emergency medical services program or providing EMS certified training or administering a college EMS training program; and an associate degree in health policy and administration, economics, statistics, public or business administration, emergency medicine, nursing or a related medical field;  OR four years of professional experience planning, developing, evaluating or operating an emergency medical services program or providing EMS certified training or administering a college EMS training program; and 30 credits in health policy and administration, economics, statistics, public or business administration, emergency medicine, nursing or a related medical field; OR five years of professional experience planning, developing, evaluating or operating an emergency medical services program or providing EMS certified training or administering a college EMS training program.
