Description About the Position: Marine Machinery Mechanic assigned to the Heavy (Duty Station: Louisville, KY) Capacity Fleet Section's of the Regional Rivers Repair Fleet.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Marine Machinery Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Perform a variety of basic maintenance repairs on electrical, mechanical or hydraulic equipment. Successfully used power tools such as lifts, sling chains and/or rock hooks on a daily basis. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Trouble shooting
  • Physical Effort: Required to stand, walk, and climb most of the time in per-forming assigned duties. Frequency reaches, bends, pulls, pushes, and lifts in order to move/install/repair heavy machinery equipment. Lifts objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: Works in inclement weather conditions and exposed to open river conditions when working on marine floating plant equipment. Works in confined/enclosed areas subject to exhausts, fumes, noises, and cramped/awkward/uncomfortable positions. Works around moving/rotating/reciprocating machinery where there is danger of injury due to falls, cuts, bruises, and burns.
